Roof Soft Wash
Soft washing is the alternative to pressure washing. We use water-based, biodegradable solutions. They emulsify dirt and grime, break down bird droppings and cobwebs, as well as killing moss, mildew and bacteria.
Soft washing uses about 1/3 the water of pressure washing, lasts 4 to 6 times longer and does not erode the surface of the roof like pressure washing often can.
We recommend a roof soft wash on TPO, Metal, Tile, and Presidential Composite Shingle rooms.
Moss Removal
Moss is detrimental to the integrity of a roof. That gunk needs to go! The process of removing moss that already exists on the roof is meticulous work.
Wire-brush method includes removing the moss with only the use of a wire brush. It is incredibly labor intensive, but much less harsh to the roof than pressure washing. This method is the #1 recommended technique for moss removal.
Gu-Wi is skilled in removing the moss without damage to shingles by using a fine bristled brush. Give that roof the gentle scrub it desperately deserves!
Moss Treatment
Chemical Spray and Zinc Powder Treatments
Chemical spray helps to kill the roots of the moss. It is used after moss removal as well as during the standard year-to-year maintenance. It is a mix of soaps and algae resistant chemicals with the active ingredient of sodium hypochlorite.
Zinc powder is a preventative measure used to deter moss grow-back. This is a white powder that will be left on the roofing shingles. The zinc will activate with rain water over the following weeks and will coat and absorb into the roofing shingles.
