Moss Removal - The Importance of a Clean Roof

mossremoval.jpg

Aside from being an unsightly growth on the top of your home, moss removal is an essential maintenance here in the Pacific Northwest.  Our roofs, particularly composite shingle roofs, breed moss growth that threatens the integrity of the roof. The roots of the moss grow within the fiberglass shingles, breaking down the material at an accelerated rate that drastically reduces the life of the roof.

A roof is a major investment in the home, and everyone’s forefront concern is making sure that investment lasts as long as possible.  If you notice moss growth on your roof, it is important to properly and safely remove the moss to sustain the life of the roof.

Gu-Wi Gutters and Windows uses only the safest method of moss removal.  We care about your home, your investment, and the longevity of your roof.  We utilize the wire-brush method on composite roofs. This is the least damaging way to clean and maintain your roof.  Our technicians run the verticals and horizontals of each shingle to get down to the roots of the moss with minimal removal of the fiberglass sheathing.

Religiously, we avoid pressure washing composite roofs, and encourage you to do the same.  Pressure washing applies considerable and unnecessary force into the tops of the composite shingles.  It digs in and slufs-off a substantial amount of the fiberglass and can take years off of your roof.

This is unnecessary damage.  Wouldn't you rather pay a few hundred dollars more cleaning and maintaining your roof, rather than pay thousands of dollars ten years sooner to replace the roof?  We care about you, we care about your home, and we care about your investment.

Why pay unnecessarily?  Pay smart: Gu-Wi Gutters and Windows is here to give you the most-optimal advice in making decisions with the exterior maintenance on your property.

Give us a call!  We will come out for free for a roof assessment.  We are known for our speedy response. Let us take care of your exterior home maintenance right away.

Fall Leaves in the Rain Gutters

It's that time of year again where the leaves begin to brighten with an autumn hue and fall from their nestled branches.  While this is, quite honestly, one of the most beautiful times of the year, fall brings with it many challenges for homeowners.

Fall is typically when we see our first rain in many months, and many times the rain comes down hard, as though its been building up all summer.  Western Washington storms make for a thorough test of our home's gutter systems.  Now is our busiest time for Gutter Repairs and Gutter Maintenance.  Whether it's a water leak, dripping gutters, clogged downspouts, or gutters falling away from the fascia, Gu-Wi can help with most gutter repairs.

Don't wait until the end of the season!  If you see a problem with your gutters, get it taken care of as soon as possible.  We've heard too many horror stories of water damage in exterior walls and roofs because the gutters were overflowing.

April Showers Bring May Clogs.

It's an unfortunate reality here in Seattle, WA: the weather is difficult to stay on top of.  After such  beautiful sunshine, we experience heavy rainfall and intense winds that take all of that gorgeous foliage and sprinkle it unsparingly across our lawns, driveways, and yes: all over those rooftops.  This is a fast-tracked recipe for a clogged gutter system.
